Spend your Summer (or longer) with a Pufferfish
The bit.ly team has been hard at work all year long, and it’s time for some reinforcements. We’re looking to add a talented Software Engineer to the bit.ly team, as well as a handful of smart, driven, passionate interns. Details below:
Software Engineer
bit.ly is looking for a talented Python/Javascript Coder to join our team and work on our user facing consumer site. This is a full-time, on-site position. You eat sleep and breathe consumer web applications. You have experience building highly scalable, standards compliant sites. You’re detail oriented but not dogmatic, and enjoy working with a small, passionate group of developers. You’re also a flexible and motivated self-learner capable of taking an idea and turning it around in prototype form in a short period of time. You have the following:
* 3-5 years of experience building highly scalable database backed consumer websites in Python using MVC frameworks
* Familiarity with a variety of Python templating languages, frameworks, and WSGI servers
* Strong UNIX skills
* Extensive experience with Javascript/AJAX, XHTML, and CSS
* In-depth understanding of SQL in general and MySQL in particular
bit.ly summer interns
bit.ly is seeking summer interns to work on turning short URLs into big things. Opportunities range from web development and data processing to support and evangelism. You’ll work with our core team on helping bit.ly take the next step as a consumer product, and benefit from a close association with Betaworks.
Python, Javascript, and CSS/XHTML skills are a plus, but we’re interested in bright people from a variety of backgrounds who are interested in spending the summer in New York City and passionate about working with a fast growing, up and coming web property.
